IPW 2017 Volunteers

Washington, DC is proud to host U.S. Travel Association's IPW, June 3-7, 2017. IPW is the travel industry's premier international marketplace and the largest generator of travel to the United States, attracting nearly 7,000 attendees from 75 countries.

This group includes influential travel buyers and journalists. IPW has been held in many top cities across the U.S., but never in Washington, DC. Our goal is to roll out the red carpet and show our guests an incredible time in the nation’s capital.

We need YOU and other hospitality-minded volunteers to help us successfully execute IPW programs and special events across five days. You are an important part of helping ensure they have an unforgettable experience in our destination.

What will volunteers do? Volunteers will fill several roles, including: greeting attendees at the airport/hotels; providing information at hotels; serving as way-finding guides at the convention center and during sightseeing tours; assisting visitors at official IPW events.

Will volunteers be able to choose shifts/activities?  Yes, as we get closer to IPW, information will be circulated instructing registered volunteers to select shifts for specific roles and events. Volunteers will be required to complete this step.

Will volunteers wear a uniform? Volunteers will be given an official shirt and badge. You will be asked to wear professional black pants (no jeans, skirts or shorts) with comfortable work shoes (no high heels or open-toe shoes).

Is there an age requirement? All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age as of June 1, 2017. Please do not bring children or pets.

Will volunteers need to attend orientation? Yes, volunteers are required to attend at least one training session in person or complete a webinar orientation session specific to their role.

How many shifts will volunteers have? Volunteers must participate in at least one shift (of at least four hours) in addition to the mandatory training session.

Do volunteers need to have special skills?  Special skills are not required. Volunteers may be required to stand for extended periods of time. Please note, many of the activities take place outdoors.
